History

How it All Began

W. H. Linder & Associates, Inc. (LINDER) was originated in Metairie, Louisiana in 1981, when Bill Linder and a group of hand-picked individuals set out to raise the standard of excellence in Consulting Engineering for the Oil & Gas and Hydrocarbon Production and Processing industries.

In its first year, LINDER numbered only six people - some of whom are still with LINDER to this day, having become owners of the company. Those early years saw a slow but steady growth in the company, supported by LINDER’s growing reputation for high quality, cost-effective engineering services.

Our “big break” came in 1989, when LINDER was awarded the detailed engineering & design of the topsides modules for Shell’s AUGER Tension Leg Platform (TLP). That first venture into the deepwater Gulf of Mexico marked a step-change for the company, and catapulted LINDER to the top ranks of Consulting Engineering firms in Southern Louisiana.

Since that time, LINDER (as part of an integrated team) has completed detailed design and engineering for the topsides of six other world-class deepwater facilities for the deepwater Gulf of Mexico, while at the same time successfully completing hundreds of other projects for various shelf, transportation, and onshore facilities. This ability to effectively execute projects of all sizes - from 15 manhours, to 150,000 manhours - has demonstrated to the industry LINDER’s unique capability to remain focused on project-specific deliverables, no matter what the project size, budget, or schedule.

Where We’re Headed

In 1989, the future of Oil & Gas was deepwater… and LINDER was there.

As we enter the 21st century, an entirely new set of design challenges faces the global Oil & Gas market - ultra-deepwater, LNG and methane hydrates, to name but a few. This is the frontier of “energy engineering”… and once again LINDER is there, prepared to take on the design challenges that come with any new frontier.
